Friends,
My heart is heavy this morning after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump's life yesterday at a rally in Pennsylvania. My thoughts are with him and his family, the three victims (one dead, two injured) their families, and everyone else in attendance. It must have been a terrifying experience.
I feel so helpless in the face of this divide, sometimes, especially when a terrible act of violence pours fuel on the fire. All I know to do is continue to reach across the divide with as much love as I can muster.
These are our prayer candles. We will light one today for our former President, the victims (whose names I've not been able to find yet), their families, the perpetrator (twenty-year-old Matthew Crooks, apparently), his family, and for all the rest of us, too.
Loving kindness is, as always, the best and only way forward, even now. Especially now.
Sara
This is what you asked for. You wanted the new Hitler eliminated. I told you that the next few months would be difficult. It gets worse for you from here.
Well said, Sara! I think most people collectively feel this way. Like a candidate or not—this isn’t the answer. Violence is never the answer.
Beautifully expressed.
Thank you for leading, as always, with love.
